‘Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet’

Here’s a lovely little something for your Sunday:

You can keep your Pixar and your millennial Disney/PBS cartoons. I’ll take the Andrews Sisters crooning about this classic love story of two hats any day.

I love the tune, I love Johnnie’s devotion to Alice, I love that their initial home is called the “Bonton Shop,” and I love that the Disney Channel used to run this all the time in the mornings and evenings in anticipation of Valentine’s Day, every year.  When I was about 6, the Disney Channel played absolutely everything on heavy rotation, and I’m grateful for that…it means I remember absolutely everything from that era, and often get little ditties like this stuck in my head.

Mr. Belding has a hat that reminds me of Johnnie Fedora. And sometimes on Sundays, we listen to the “Old Time-y” radio shows on NPR. Thus, Sundays are Johnnie Fedora days in my mind.
